The Quasar CTD 135 Is Not a Compact Symmetric Object

چکیده

The radio-loud quasar CTD 135 (2234+282, J2236+2828) has been proposed as a candidate compact symmetric object (CSO), based on its radio structure revealed by multi-frequency very long baseline interferometry (VLBI) imaging observations milliarcsec angular scales. CSOs are known young jetted active galactic nuclei (AGN) whose relativistic plasma jets misaligned with respect to the line of sight. peculiarity CSO was detection in ?-rays, while vast majority ?-ray emitting AGN blazars pointing close our viewing direction. Since only handful sources, unambiguous identification single is important for studying this rare class objects. By collecting and interpreting observational data from recent literature, we revisit classification 135. We present evidence that object, flat-spectrum core high brightness temperature, variability at multiple wavebands, infrared colours should be classified blazar rather than CSO.

A Shrinking Compact Symmetric Object: J11584+2450?

We present multi-frequency multi-epoch Very Long Baseline Array (VLBA) observations of J11584+2450. These observations clearly show this source, previously classified as a core-jet, to be a compact symmetric object (CSO). Comparisons between these new data and data taken over the last 9 years shows the edge brightened hot spots retreating towards the core (and slightly to the west) at approxima...

Breaking All the Rules : The Compact Symmetric Object 0402 + 379

We present results of multi-frequency VLBA observations of the compact symmetric object (CSO) 0402+379. The parsec-scale morphology of 0402+379 allows us to confirm it as a CSO, while VLA data clearly show the presence of kiloparsec-scale structure. Thus, 0402+379 is only the second known CSO to possess large scale structure. Another puzzling morphological characteristic found from our observat...

Bidirectional motion observed in the compact symmetric object 1946+708.

We present the first direct measurements of bidirectional motions in an extragalactic radio jet. The radio source 1946+708 is a compact symmetric object with striking S-symmetry identified with a galaxy at a redshift of 0.101. From observations 2 years apart we have determined the velocities of four compact components in the jet, the fastest of which has an apparent velocity of 1.09 h-1c. By pa...

Multi-epoch VLBA observations of radio galaxy 0932+075: is this a compact symmetric object?

A part of the radio structure of the galaxy 0932+075 emerged as a possible compact symmetric object (CSO) after the observation with the Very Long Baseline Array (VLBA) at 5 GHz in 1997. More than a decade later, we carried out observations at 5, 15.4, and 22.2 GHz using the VLBA to test this possibility. We report here that we have found a component whose spectrum is inverted in the whole rang...

When is an object not an object?

This paper describes an approach to designing and building Tcl extensions that can be flexibly and dynamically changed using either Tcl or C. In particular, extensions having an object-based interface are considered. This extension approach seeks to avoid the “chasm” found in migrating code from Tcl to C as it matures by freely mixing Tcl and C to create an object’s subcommands. The approach di...
